Gotse Delchev is situated 103 km southeast of Blagoevgrad and about 150 km from the capital Sofia. It is located in the Gotse Delchev hollow, in the southeast foot of the beautiful Pirin mountain, 500 metres above sea level. Gotse Delchev (23 300 inhabitants) is the historical centre of the south-west part of Bulgaria. There is numerous evidence in the local history museum that proves the existence of ancient civilizations in this region.
Nowadays, Gotse Delchev is a modern town which offers all kinds of attractions and places to visit. The natural sight 'Chinarbey' (a 500-year-old 24m-high plane-tree) can be seen near the banks of Delchevska River. The age-old chestnut-trees Bliznatsite (the Twins) can be found a mile away from the town; Also, there is a popular fishpond, located by Mesta River, which offers tourist attractions and a fish restaurant.
