Location

Pamporovo is situated in the heart of Rhodopi mountain - the mountain of the mythical singer Orpheus. The height above sea level in the centre of a resort is 1650 m. The resort is surrounded by Murgavets and Snejanka peaks and Charnatitsa mountain circuit.
The combination of environment makes Pamporovo fine both in the winter and in the summer seasons: wide fir forests, picturesque glades, strange rocky formations (rocks Orpheus, etc.), beautiful high tops Snejanka (1925), Murgavets (1858), Orleto and a number of others. Pamporovo is situated 16 km from Smolyan, 12 km from Chepelare, 35 km from Devin, 83 km form Plovdiv and 240 km away from Sofia. There is a regular bus transport to these towns.

CLIMATE
The climate in Pamporovo is alpine but also slightly influenced from the Mediterranean sea climate. These features combined with the height above sea level are the reasons of the mild and snowy winter and sunny weather during summer. The surrounding heights protect the resort from winds and keep the snow cover on the northern slopes of Snejanka and Murgavets until the end of the winter season.
