Bulgarian Government launches a powerful advertising campaign aimed at attracting more foreign tourists. Starting from the 6th of September 2010 till the 27th of March 2011, over half a billion families will watch clips about Bulgaria. The 30-second videos will be broadcast in prime time on EuroNews, EuroSport, National Geographic and Discovery Channel. They feature Bulgaria as a destination for culture, environmental and rural tourism.
For the purpose, 6.8 million levs have been allotted for a project of the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, financed under Regional Development Operational Programme. The total cost of the project is 7.5 million levs.
“Through the ads we can reach to a hundred times more potential tourists,” Bulgaria’s Minister of Economy, Traycho Traykov explained. The company’s budget is twice bigger than the budget the state avails of for tourism promotion.
“As a result of the campaign we hope the number of tourists in Bulgaria for the whole year to increase by 4 to 5%,” explained Ivo Marinov, Bulgaria’s Deputy Minister of Tourism.
