Bourgas

The city of Bourgas is the second largest city at the Black Sea coast and is a regional administrative centre.
It is the fourth largest city in Bulgaria with a population of around 200 000 residents. It is situated 390 km distant east of Sofia, 20 km south of Pomorie and 35 km northwest of Sozopol. It is situated in the western part of the bay of Bourgas and is surrounded by 3 lakes.

Today Bourgas is a cultural and a scientific centre. There are a couple of universities, theatre, opera, and a symphony orchestra. Above all, the city is an important port and a seaside tourist centre in the southern Black Sea region of Bulgaria.
The climate is pleasant with mild winter and sunny and long summer. There are numerous serviced sandy beaches as well as many parks and recreation areas.
A great number of hotels in the city offer a perfect opportunity for fun and rest. Places of interest are also the Historical museum, the Ethnographic museum and the Natural science museum.

Bourgas has an international airport which operates flights all-year-round. New passenger terminal was recently open at the airport, serving up to 2500 passenger per hour. The nearest coastal resorts around Bourgas are Pomorie, Nessebar & Sunny Beach to the north, as well as Sozopol, Primorsko and Tsarevo to the south. All of them are easily accessible by public transport, by car or taxi.
